Murgitroyd & Company Volunteering Day

Saturday 22 June 2013

Murgitroyd & Company, a European Patent and Trade Mark Attorney practice provided a group of eight volunteers from their Glasgow headquarters to take part in an environmental field work event organised by Eadha Enterprises as part of their new Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.

The hardy volunteers gave up their Saturday morning to undertake woodland management work at Hardridge Farm, in Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.  On arrival they successfully erected a tarpaulin shelter in the driving rain before going on to collect redundant tree tubes and stakes from the young woodland for re-use. More than 30 native trees provided by Eadha Enterprises including local provenance aspen were then planted to restock the woodland. Some self-seeded Sitka Spruce were also removed.

Despite the fierce midges and changeable weather, the team were undeterred and illustrated great teamwork and a willingness to get stuck into the job! They were rewarded at the end with a hot cup of tea from the Kelly Kettle.

Everyone from Murgitroyd & Company had an excellent morning learning woodland management skills at Hardridge Farm. We're really looking forward to visiting again and getting our very own Aspen tree for our community garden.
