St Palladius Primary Practice Populus Propagation

21 June 2013

St Palladius Primary School’s eco-committee visited Lochwinnoch Community Garden on Friday 21st June to help to grow native aspen trees with Eadha Enterprises, accompanied by Community Windpower’s ranger Pete Boustead.

The 11 eager pupils from Dalry learned all about aspen conservation and the importance of aspen in woodlands and for biodiversity.  Before putting there hands in the compost, they watched a fun and informative silent movie produced by Lochwinnoch Primary school all about aspen.

Over the morning the hard working children potted up more than 700 small saplings for growing on over the summer months.

They were working with 11 different clones from across Scotland and enjoyed identifying the location of each clone on a map.

Eadha thanks Community Windpower for their support for this event.
