Eadha delivered an aspen propagation workshop at SWT’s Shewalton Wood Reserve in Irvine on Sunday and supplied 80 aspens for planting on the reserve.
Root cuttings were harvested from 6 stock trees which were laid out and buried in a raised bed. A further 7 young trees were provided for growing on as stock trees. A total of 10 clones from Southern Scotland were provided for the nursery including 2 clones from SWT reserves – Loch Libo and Feoch Meadows. It is hoped that over time the nursery will produce aspen trees on an ongoing basis for planting on its reserves.
A great team of volunteers to work with!
