Volunteers from environmental consultancy AEA Ricardo’s Glasgow office helped to plant the final area of the Wardlaw Community Woodland and Community Windpower’s Wardlaw Windfarm.
We have been highly encouraged by the level of volunteer support for this project and the interest shown by the volunteers to be involved in the ongoing management work.
The project has been a great success with 10,000 native trees planted by 100 volunteers. Notably we have also created the largest native aspen woodland in Southern Scotland.
We would like to thank the following groups and organisations for their involvement:
- Kilmarnock College
- Forestry Commission Scotland
- SRUC
- North Ayrshire Council (Actilearn Group)
- East Ayrshire Woodlands
- Princes Trust
- RPSB
- AEA Ricardo
We hope this woodland will become a value resource for the community of Dalry and the wider area.
We are hoping to develop further projects at the Wardlaw site with the support of Community Windpower.
