Grey Mares Tail Montane Willow Restoration
Eadha have been propagating cuttings of a range of montane willows collected from the Grey Mares Tail Nature Reserve in the Scottish Borders for the National Trust for Scotland. There are only a small number of bushes left on the reserve to be found on high elevation crags. This includes Salix lapponum (Downy Willow) and Salix myrsinifolia (Dark Leaved Willow).
The saplings are being planted in fenced enclosures to protect them against sheep grozing which still takes place across the reserve.
